Biancaneve e i sette nani by Myriam Ferretti (D.Q. 2838–2840) 1938

This album, produced in Milan, is the first Italian recording of the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on record. The main artist credited is Myriam Ferretti, then aged 22. She had already recorded songs from the film some time before. The other actors are not named, but are referred to as “Compagnia Columbia”. The magic mirror has a female voice, possibly that of Ferretti herself.
The film’s story, adapted by Gyp, is spread over three double-sided discs. Each chapter begins and ends on the same four descending notes.

Sound effects sometimes take precedence over dialogue and music (the sound of the horse’s hooves, the wind, the rain), so that it’s sometimes difficult to understand what’s being said.

Songs are used at different moments in the film, such as “With a Smile and a Song” and “The Silly Song”, sung in the last part when Snow White has just woken up.
