Putting words in Snow White
Two-timed Academy Award nominee, Larry Morey is the lyricist of the famous Snow White songs, composed by Frank Churchill. They actually made about 25 of them, even though only eight made the final cut. Additionnaly, the song “Snow White” was released on sheet music and appears on a few records.
Larry Morey could write music and lyrics. He was also among the screenwriters for the film, but incredibly, in the main titles, he gets credited with none of these two occupations. He is only listed as a sequence director. It is all the more surprising considering he directed none of the sequences of the film, according to studio documentation.
Prior to Snow White, he had composed the famous tune “The World Owes Me a Living” from the short film The Grasshopper and the Ants and went on to work on Ferdinand the Bull, The Reluctant Dragon, Dumbo, So Dear to My Heart, Alice in Wonderland, and more.
