Hysterical Good versus Melancholic Evil
Mickey Mouse wakes up singing “Feelin’ the Love” to every person he meets, trying hard to bring happiness all around. Among them, Mr. Toad from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Cinderella, Horace Horsecollar and the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland.
Meanwhile, as the camera trucks in on the castle of the evil Queen, in a similar fashion as in the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the witch is dipping an apple in her poisoned-filled cauldron. On her way to kill Snow White, she meets Mickey who offers to help her cross the street. Annoyed by his very presence, she gives him a poisoned apple, hoping to get rid of him. The generous mouse comes back almost instantly with a pie, which the witch unsuspectedly eats. One of the many times when her deadly ploys turn against her during the episode.
When the slave in the magic mirror tells her that Mickey is now the fairest in the land, the witch decides that she will destroy him and still fails. As the witch lies in Snow White’s casket, she laments that she only wanted to be the fairest in the land, and Mickey decides to humor her: he invites all his friend to see the transformation, which consists in dressing the witch in Snow White’s outfit. Even the witch is happy and smiles to the tune of “Some Day My Prince Will Come”.
This truly hilarious short is the second in the new Mickey Mouse franchise after Wish Upon a Coin to tackle a Snow White theme. It is available on Disney +.
