Spanish Lobby Cards

Find on this page the lobby cards used to promote the film during its successive releases in Spain.

1975

Filmayer S.A. reissued Snow White for Christmas 1975. The lobby cards that year measured 11.4′ x 15′. Unlike the cards later used in Spain—and already in use at the time in many other countries—those used for this reissue are printed on thick cardboard, with four metal-reinforced holes for hanging. It therefore appears that they were manufactured with reuse in mind, and it was likely intended that the exhibitor would rent them and return them to the distributor after the film’s run, as was the practice in Switzerland, for example.

Furthermore, the images shown appear to be old black-and-white photographs that have been hand-colored, even though they are reproduced here photographically. Such images were used until the 1950s in France and Germany, for example, but had fallen out of favor since the widespread adoption of color photography in advertising. This choice is therefore unexpected.

1983

For the 60th anniversary of the Disney studio, Filmayer reissued Snow White, on a double bill with Una Navidad con Mickey (Mickey’s Christmas Carol) for Christmas 1983. This was the first time that the title was changed to “Blancanieves” instead of “Blanca Nieves” until then, specifically for Spain.

Alternate versions of the lobby cards were made with the 60th anniversary diamond logo.

1992

In April 1992, Snow White was re-released one last time on Spanish screens by Warner Española S.A.
