Find on this page the posters of various formats used to promote the film during its release in the United States of America.
1937-1938
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered on December 21, 1937 but these posters were mostly used throughout the United States later, since the general release was on February 4, 1938.
1940
As soon as the summer 1940, Snow White is rereleased in American theaters as part of a package called The Great Walt Disney Festival of Hits. The four other hits besides Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are three shorts: Ferdinand the Bull, The Practical Pig, Ugly Duckling, and Donald’s Lucky Day.
1944
On February 22, 1944 RKO re-released Snow White with adapted slogans showcasing the fact that the film is unforgettable: “The show thrill of a lifetime!” and the dwarfs say “We’re back to fill your heart with happiness again!”.
1952
Dopey is clearly in the spotlight on the posters for the February 13, 1952 RKO re-release. The slogan this time is: “See one of the all time greats! Hear the all time song hits “Whistle While You Work” Heigh Ho” “Some Day My Prince Will Come”.”
1958
On February 7, 1958, the first Buena Vista re-release of Snow White comes out with the slogan “Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho We’re back! Here it is – That wondrous masterpiece of sheer delight, for you and your family to see and enjoy, again and again!”
1967
On June 11, 1967, Buena Vista re-releases Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and comes up with this iconic slogan: “…still the fairest of them all!”
1975
“Still the fairest of them all!” comes back on the screen through Buena Vista on December 20, 1975.
1983
On July 15, 1983, Buena Vista re-released Snow White again with the same slogan “still the fairest of them all!” The visuals used are very similar to those of the previous release. A Spanish-language version of this poster has been produced for the North American market. However, it includes a badge celebrating the “50th anniversary”. It is therefore possible that this is a reworking of the 1983 visual for a 1987 re-release.
1987
For the 50th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Buena Vista releases the film in many countries on July 17, 1987. The north American poster shows the main character with a pink dress, as could be found in color tests and 1938 French posters. The 50th anniversary banner and some elements of her gown like her bow are raised with gold foil. Another poster was made for McDonald’s restaurants. Below are also two unused concepts.
1993
The last general re-release of the century in the United States took place on July 2, 1993 through Buena Vista. A pre-release poster representing the magic mirror was made with mylar to simulate the effect of a looking-glass. A more classic poster was designed with an unprecedented space reserved for the Queen.
