One of four buddies
Thor Putnam studied at Stanford University with James Algar, Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas, and all four men ended up worjing at the Walt Disney studio. Thor started as an assistant layout artist on Snow White and Ferdinand the Bull. In his interview by David Johnson, he mentions studying European castle to design the Queen’s castle, most notably the castle of Segovia in Spain. He also remembers working under the supervision of Albert Hurter.
Thor Putnam went on to become head of layout on Pinocchio and he worked on many films like Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp.
