“When my mother took me to see Snow White, everyone fell in love with Snow White. I immediately fell for the Wicked Queen.”
With this quote, begins an animated sequence in Woody Allen’s film Annie Hall in which a caricature of himself appears, a sexy version of the Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, in fact Annie, her crow and Tony Roberts.
The unsung hero of this brief scene seems to be Chris Ishii, born Kishio Christopher Ishii, an animator born on August, 11, 1919 in Fresno, California, and who had worked at the Walt Disney studio in the 1940s. By 1965, he had formed his own company called Focus Productions and freelanced for Annie Hall.
