Remaking a classic

The Disney studio is planning to release a new live-action version of their first animated classic. Originally slated for March 21, 2024, the official release date is now March 21, 2025.

So far, very little information has transpired, apart from the names of certain cast and crew members. It’s likely that the story will be somewhat altered, generating controversy on social media and even in the press. On October 27, 2023, the release date was pushed back, probably to rework the story, and an official publicity image featuring Snow White and the dwarfs was published on the company’s website.

According to Forbes, $209.3 million (£150.5 million) has already been spent on the film.

On April 11, 2024, very short clips were shown to a select few at the Santander theater in Sao Paulo, and on August 9, 2024, at D23, the teaser trailer, teaser poster and full “Whistle While You Work” sequence were revealed.

On November 8, 2024, at D23 Brasil in São Paulo, a full trailer was shown, and on November 20, 2024 at the Disney Content Showcase in Singapore, new footage was reveiled.

This trailer was officially released on December 3, 2024.

New Songs

Some of the songs from the 1937 production did not make their way into the 2025 remake. However, new songs were composed for the occasion.

The Queen sings “All is Fair” and Snow White sings “Waiting on a Wish”. Other songs include “Good Things Grow” and “Princess problems”.

The single “Waiting on a Wish” came out on March 5 and the album on March 15, 2025.

“It was the first time I had to kind of audition for a project in a while. They needed to make sure I can sing, because this is a musical. So for a month I was working on the song, and then I auditioned, and we filmed the song and I got the part, and it was very exciting.”
