Tenas and detergent
This French album tells the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It contains black-and-white illustrations, but the reader was required to paste sixty color vignettes onto its pages. It is a reworked and reduced version of an earlier work published in Switzerland by Tobler chocolate. In fact, there are now only 48 pages and 60 vignettes instead of 64 pages and 80 vignettes, and the book is now published by Lesieur-Cotelle, a company that distributes Mir Super detergent, of which this album seems to be a spin-off, no doubt a gift for children to boost sales of the detergent.
Although the text and illustrations are the same, this time the author – illustrator is no longer credited. It is Tenas, a Belgian illustrator who, at the time, was working on the pages of Mickey Magazine in Belgium and Le journal de Mickey in France.
The Lesieur-Cotelle company was created in 1968, and Mir Super detergent was bought out in 1971, which puts the album’s probable release around 1970, when Tenas ended its association with Le Journal de Mickey.
