After the release and success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney metaphorically announced in the press that “Dopey is dead”. That is to say that he has no intention of reusing the characters for other productions that could diminish the special event that is the feature film.
However, as the studio’s finances were affected by the war, and as the demand remained, the temptation grew to use their popularity while reusing sequences cut from the film.
A project of medium-length film entitled “Snow White Returns” was then studied, but several shorts were made eventually.
