Soundtracks

The film’s French soundtrack was not part of the original contract between RCA and Walt Disney, which only included the English and Spanish versions. In any case, the quality of the recording of the French songs made in the early months of 1938 was not satisfactory enough to warrant phonographic release. The first French dubbing of Snow White was thus never released on record. When the second dubbing was recorded in 1962, even the official discs, recorded by the film’s interpreter, Lucie Dolène, were re-orchestrated versions of the songs. It was not until almost twenty years later that extracts from the original soundtrack were finally released on disc and cassette. Before that, only reinterpretations were released.
